The first couple to dance is Sabra and Neil, dancing hip-hop with Shane Sparks. The dance is to “Whine Up” by Kat DeLuna. Sabra and Neil are both in black and white. Sabra has on short white pants, a beige bra, and a black jacket.
Neil is wearing black jeans, a black shirt and white jacket. The dance actually looks awfully similar to one that Lacey did. There are some moves where Neil kind of pulls Sabra’s ass towards him, as if there’s a magnet on it, and that reminded me of the earlier routine. The choreography is kind of soft for Shane Sparks, or maybe hip-hop is just softening. I’m glad to see a hip-hop routine that doesn’t immediately look like a music video.
Nigel says that it was good, but wasn’t as “funky” as he wanted. He says that Neil was a little stiff, and that Sabra wasn’t as good as he expected her to be. Mary says that it was a fun number, but wasn’t “hard hitting and down” enough. She says that she expected more, and is a little disappointed. Dan says that they did better hip-hop earlier in the season, and it was too bouncy.
