Earlier in the week, Cat interviewed each of the four finalists, so next we see Lacey’s interview. She says that she was bribed to dance with Barbie dolls when she was little. Her first dancing competition was the U.S. title at age six, and then she took a break until she was ten, when she won her first title.
After she won the Latin title when she was 17, she quit dancing to go to hair school. After she saw Benji on the show last season, she was inspired to start dancing again. She talks about how draining the show is physically and emotionally.
Lacey’s solo is up next, set to “Technologic” by Daft Punk. She’s got a really odd sense of style, that’s for sure. She’s wearing a sequined blue dress that is maybe too big, which would explain why it doesn’t at all cover her black bra. To complete the look, she added black leggings, and left the black gloves from the last dance on. Lacey’s solo is more like the solos that she used to do, full of Latin moves with a little contemporary and hip-hop thrown in. Her Latin-style hip movements tend to look sleazy when she dances fast.
Nigel tells Lacey that she’s a great dancer, but he doesn’t always believe her performance. Mary says that Lacey’s solo was much better prepared tonight, but her best dancing is done with a partner. Dan says that Lacey is a smart dancer, and works the crowd and cameras.
