Shaina Magdayao’s contemporaries are going the sexy route. Maja Salvador is about to star in the mature series “Nagsimula sa Puso” while Erich Gonzales stars in the afternoon teen-pregnancy story “Katorse.” Is Shaina ready for more mature and sexy roles?
Shaina admitted that while she is open to the possibility of taking the same path, she won’t do so until the right project comes along. “I’m game with anything pero right now, give them (Maja and Erich) the spotlight. It’s their time… So kung may projects—and I’m very thankful na meron—siguro I would just do my best. Pero ‘yung competition it’s for others.”
On the question whether she’s ready for her launching show, Shaina related: “Of course I’m hoping, but walang maliit o walang malaking role. As long as I believe dun sa project at sa character na pino-portray ko, go na go talaga ako. Walang problema doon as long as mamahalin ko ‘yung character ko, go na go ako.”
On having one project after another on ABS-CBN, Shaina is thankful: “More than being choosy, siguro I should just be thankful na I’ve been in the business for a long time and hindi ako nawawalan ng project.”
Shaina fans will not have to wait for a long time to see their idol on the small-screen once again. She’s currently working on her next teleserye, the Pinoy adaptation of the Mexicanovela Rubi, with Angelica Panganiban and Jake Cuenca. That should be exciting!
