On Wednesday next week, January 27, the opening salvo of Star Cinema for 2010, the Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson starrer titled “Paano Na Kaya” will be released in theaters nationwide. Malaki ang expectations ng mga tao and showbiz watchers sa kikitain ng pelikula. Kasi nga, kung sa ratings lang ng “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo” ngayon at “Tayong Dalawa” noon i-base, sadyang maraming supporters and fans ang dalawa.

Sa trailer pa lang ng movie, nakaka-entice na sa mga manonood na tangkilikin at panoorin ang pelikula. Dahil relatable ang story at mga characters sa movie, di maikaila na maraming tao ang manonood nito. Pero let us also face the fact na ang huling tambalan ni Gerald and Kim sa pelikula noon ay hindi masyadong tumabo sa takilya, kaya nariyan din ang kaba (kahit di man aminin) sa mga taong bumubuo ng Star Cinema.

Kim and Gerald’s loveteam has become so bankable on TV, in film, in commercials, in magazine covers, in newspapers and especially in the public eye that they are the only local pair that bears that Hollywood trademark — two names abbreviated into one…two hearts beating as one?

Fresh from their yet another pairing in the top-rated ABS-CBn soap Tayong Dalawa, Kim and Gerald are teamed up anew, this time on the big screen, in Paano Na Kaya?, Star Cinema’s pre-Valentine offering slated for release on Jan. 27.

Kim has just received praises for her performance in I Love You, Goodbye, Star Cinema’s 2009 Metro Filmfest entry which finished among the Top 3, in which she acquitted herself beside Derek Ramsay, Angelica Panganiban and Gabby Concepcion who plays Kim’s father.

On the other hand, Gerald is pitted in the same manner in Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo with a formidable cast also led by Gabby, together with Kris Aquino, Albert Martinez, Gina Pareño, Jaclyn Jose and Coco Martin.

Going solo, they click. And they click even better together as they do in Paano Na Kaya? which is sure to send hearts a-flutter, young and old alike, especially those of the Kimeralds (which is how fans of the loveteam have become known).

Directed by Ruel Bayani from a screenplay by Henry Quitain and Kriz Gazmen, Paano Na Kaya?, which also stars Melissa Ricks, is the story of two friends who eventually become lovers, challenging the question of whether romance on the rebound can long endure.

Kim plays Mae, madly in love with her best friend Bogs who is madly in love with his girlfriend Anna (Melissa). Bogs sees Mae as a friend but never as a lover, until he and Anna breaks up and Bogs finds a shoulder to cry on and a sympathetic heart in Mae. And then, Anna comes back.

Paano Na Kaya? answers the intriguing question: Can love on the rebound be, or become, true love?

Kim and Gerald will prove to all and sundry that it can be, it can become.
