The recording of the charity CD single “Kaya Natin Ito,” written by Ogie Alcasid for the benefit of victims of the recent storms, is finished—with a music video ushering its release. The song features more than 80 singers who gave their services for free. All sales proceeds will go to those affected by Storm “Ondoy” and Typhoon “Pepeng.”

The music video will premiere today on the TV programs “SOP” (GMA 7) and “ASAP” (ABS-CBN). The unity project spearheaded by Ogie Alcasid and talent manager Girlie Rodis.

Says Rodis: “Now is the best time to get the artists together and help the typhoon victims through a fund-raising event. Ondoy destroyed houses and Gawad Kalinga is building houses. GK is a direct answer to Ondoy which we chose to be the beneficiary of the concert”.

Filipinos are admired with their ability to rise above adversity. This inspired Ogie to compose “Kaya Natin Ito.” It conveys a message of hope that seeks to uplift the spirit of typhoon victims by encouraging them through the power of music.

“Kaya Natin Ito” is a milestone—practically the entire roster of singers in the local pop music industry, with a sprinkling of folk, rock, hip hop and classical artists, have collaborated on a single charity project.
