HE ruled ABS-CBNs primetime block with memorable and widely followed teleseryes like Pangako sa Yo, Sanay Wala ang Wakas and the action-fantasy drama, Panday. Then he took a 10-month sabbatical from acting to concentrate on his music and launch an album, Loose Fit, with his band Jeans.
Last month, Jericho Rosales returned to ABS-CBNs Primetime Bida slot with a new soap series, Pangarap na Bituin. The actor has Sarah Geronimo as his leading lady and Rica Peralejo as his other love interest. Maja Salvador also stars. At the helm are directors Erick Salud and Trina Dayrit.
Echo cannot be thankful enough for his new project which allows him to further explore his music in a TV drama. He also gets to work with his own band, Jeans, whose members star with him in the series. Echo plays Terrence, the lead vocalist of the band. He is a young singing icon with an over-protective and over-zealous talent manager (Cherry Pie Picache), who meddles even with the affairs of his heart.
ABS-CBN is set to conquer the ratings game with “Pangarap na Bituin” by using an old formula in a teleserye with a showbiz-oriented plot. The title of the series is from a hit song by megastar Sharon Cuneta with beautiful melody and haunting lyrics. Drama, love and greed will figure in the interesting subplots.
Now celebrating his 10th anniversary in show business, Echo has undoubtedly made a big leap, from being a teen idol to one of the best actors of his generation. His new TV project comes on the heels of the two best actor awards he clinched for “Pacquiao the Movie” – from the Philippine Movie Press Club’s 23rd Star Awards for Movies and the academe’s Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro (PASADO).
“The teleserye came at the right time,” Echo said. “Before I took a break, I said I only wanted to rest, but I had no idea how long. It took me 10 months. After promoting the album and after promoting myself as a singer, the offer to do the soap came. Then came the good news that it was about singing and I’d get to work with my band.”
Aside from his TV project, Jericho hasn’t turned his back on singing. He continues to accept live gigs with his band, which he formed two years ago. Their 14-track album, “Loose Fit,” under EMI Records, was launched in Malaysia and is set to be released also in Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei.
Echo and Jeans have been combing the malls and the provinces performing their original songs and exciting thousands of fans everywhere. The band is now promoting their second single, “Tuwing Nakikita Ka,” with a music video which Echo directed. He is set to direct the music video of his girlfriend, Heart Evangelista.
On Oct. 18 and 19, Echo will hold a two-night concert, “Raw Energy,” at the Music Museum with his band Jeans and Gary Valenciano as special guest. Echo also renewed his contract as the celebrity endorser of popular clothing brand Penshoppe.

very touching talaga ang story ng pangarap na bituin. galing ng performance ni jericho d2. even my husband watches with me kc nga saludo kami sa performance ni echo. sayang lang patay na si cassie which was portrayed by heart evangelista. watch it and you’ll see; it’s a story similar to everybody’s life. ito kasi ang istorya ng mga taong ayaw tanggapin ng kanilang kapwa (emerald vs. ms. a) at someone who loves (ruby& jeffrey, emerald&terrence). kung ipalabas din ito sa malaysia, for sure, hit ulit ito. congratulations to abs-cbn for coming up with pangarap na bituin.
